UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE LOCAL AND REGIONAL FOOD AID PROCUREMENT PROGRAM- Modification 1

LRP aims to support development activities to strengthen the capacity of food-insecure developing countries and address the causes of chronic food insecurity.

Under LRP, recipients use FAS-provided funds to purchase eligible commodities in developing countries and pay for associated administrative

credit:


and operational costs related to the implementation of field-based projects in a foreign country pursuant to an agreement with FAS.

LRP also supports the consumption of locally or regionally produced food and strengthens local value chains and all associated procurement activities.

LRP will focus primarily on development programs, although the regulations also provide for the furnishing of food assistance in the form of an emergency response (7 CFR § 159 0. 1(a)(2)).
