Age-related Microbiota Changes and their Implications in Chronic Disease Prevention, Treatment and Progression (R01 Clinical Trial Optional).

The overall purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to assess the role of the microbiome in health and disease during aging.

This initiative will support research projects designed to evaluate changes in the microbiota during lifetime and its influence in health and disease

status in the elderly, including those from racial/ethnic minority and underserved populations and understand the underlying mechanisms of microbiota interactions in aged subjects as related to health and disease.

This FOA will accept basic mechanistic, preclinical studies in animal models and human clinical trial proposals in accordance with the state of the science.
