ROSES 2020: Space Biology

AMENDMENT NO.

70 TO THE NASA RESEARCH ANNOUNCEMENT (NRA) ENTITLED "RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES IN SPACE AND EARTH SCIENCES (ROSES) 2020," NNH20ZDA001N, RELEASED FEBRUARY 14, 2020 The NASA Space Biology Program (formerly the Space Life and Physical Sciences Research and Applications Division

credit:

of HEOMD) element focuses on ideas that will increase NASA's understanding of how living systems respond to the unique environments that are encountered during space exploration, including the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) environment inside the International Space Station (ISS) and deep space conditions beyond LEO, including transit to and maintenance in Lunar and Martian environments.

Therefore, this program element solicits proposals for investigations that characterize how living systems respond and adapt to spaceflight or spaceflight-like conditions.

Program Element E.12 Space Biology, solicits four different Projects Types; Research Investigations, Expanded Integrative Investigations, Early Career Investigations, and GeneLab Analytical Investigations.

These Project Types may be limited to one of the specific platforms (i.e., ISS-flight vs.

ground) as well as to one or more of the specific focus areas (Integrated Animal Physiology, Plant Biology, or Microbial Ecosystems).

Thus, proposers are strongly encouraged to read this program element carefully to ensure that their applications are compliant with the requirements for each Project Type and focus area.

Amendment 70 Releases a new opportunity in ROSES-2020 in the form of this program element:
E.12 Space Biology.

Step-1 Proposals are due December 17, 2020 and Step-2 proposals are due March 23, 202 1.

On or about November 17, 2020, this Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement "Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2020" (NNH20ZDA001N) will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at http://solicitation.nasaprs.com/ROSES2020 and will appear on SARA's ROSES blog at:
