Additional Information of Eligibility:
Only current Arizona Tribal Epidemiology Center (TEC) grantees serving Tribes with previously reported cases of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF) are eligible to apply for the competing supplemental funding under this announcement.

They must demonstrate that they have complied with previous terms and conditions of the TEC program.

Rocky Mountain spotted fever is a life-threatening tick-borne disease.

An ongoing epidemic of RMSF affects Tribal lands in Arizona with more than 388 cases and 23 deaths since 2003 - a case fatality rate 15 times higher than that national rate.

All deaths from locally acquired RMSF in Arizona have occurred among Native peoples.

Six Tribes in the Arizona area have experienced epidemic rates of RMSF transmitted by this tick vector.

Only Arizona TECs serving Tribes with previously reported cases of RMSF will be eligible to apply for this cooperative agreement.

To avoid redundancy for funded activities, applicants must disclose any other federal funds from the current Fiscal Year that have been received or applied specifically for RMSF prevention.
